Spain clinched the Euro 2024 championship in dramatic fashion, defeating England 2-1 in a hard-fought final at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Sunday.

The first half saw few scoring opportunities, with England effectively stifling Spain’s attacks. Luke Shaw, replacing Kieran Trippier at left-back, effectively neutralized Lamine Yamal.

After Rodri was substituted at halftime, England seemed poised for success. However, Spain broke the deadlock early in the second half. A skillful build-up led to Yamal cutting inside and finding Nico Williams, who calmly finished at the far post.

England equalized with less than 20 minutes remaining. Bukayo Saka initiated a swift counterattack down the right, his cutback finding Jude Bellingham, who set up Cole Palmer for a composed strike from outside the box.

In the final minutes, Spain regained the lead. Marc Cucurella’s cross from the flank met Mikel Oyarzabal, who volleyed home past Jordan Pickford.

England pressed hard for another equalizer, but Marc Guehi’s rebound was cleared off the line by Dani Olmo, and Declan Rice’s subsequent attempt went wide. Despite their efforts, Spain held on through added time to claim their fourth European title.

The victory marks Spain’s record fourth European championship win, while England continues to seek their first major trophy since the 1966 FIFA World Cup.
