Anger Erupts as Guardian Allegedly Beats 14-Year-Old Boy to Death Over Missing N1000
A woman and her son, identified as Chukwuemeka, allegedly fatally beat a 14-year-old boy named Testimony at their residence on Delta Street, Ayanre, off Ibiye bus stop, Badagry, Lagos.
Reports indicate that the boy was allegedly subjected to hours of beating starting around 11 pm on Wednesday for reportedly misplacing a N1,000 note given to him by one of the suspects to buy items at the market. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries around 1 am on Thursday.
According to witnesses, attempts by neighbors to intervene were thwarted as the doors were locked from the inside. Early Thursday morning, when the boy did not respond to his name, he was rushed to a nearby hospital lacking oxygen therapy. Upon returning home, his condition deteriorated further.
The woman then sought prayers from church members for a miracle, but the boy eventually passed away. Police arrived at approximately 5:10 pm on Thursday to arrest the woman, identified as the primary suspect in the assault.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, declined to confirm the incident when contacted, stating, “I cannot confirm that now.”
However, a video shared anonymously with our correspondent showed the lifeless body of the boy covered with a cloth, displaying severe bruises, eliciting shocked reactions from those present.
