Gunmen Kill Prominent Politician Ejike Ukwueze in Enugu

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot and killed prominent politician Ejike Ukwueze in Enugu State.

Reports indicate that Ukwueze was killed on Friday night while driving in Neke Odenigbo, located in the Enugu East Local Government Area.

A viral video shows Ukwueze’s car riddled with bullet holes, revealing the extent of the attack.

Ukwueze was the immediate younger brother of the late Chijioke Ukwueze, a former member of the Enugu State House of Assembly representing Isi-Uzo Constituency, who tragically died in 2020 during a plenary session.

A source close to the family suggested that the killing might be politically motivated, implying an assassination due to Ukwueze’s growing influence in the Isi-Uzo political scene.

“Yes, he was a strong contender. Aside from his intentions to run for the local government election, he was becoming a significant force in Isi-Uzo politics, filling in for his late brother, who was a respected and powerful political figure,” the source revealed.

As of now, police authorities in Enugu State have not commented on the incident.
