‘Operation Feed Everybody’: Gov. Nwifuru Provides Agro-Inputs to 2,000 Farmers in Ebonyi
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has launched ‘Operation Feed Everybody’ and distributed agro-inputs to 2,000 farmers across the state. The initiative was officially kicked off at the FADAMA office in Onuebonyi, Abakaliki, with Nwifuru’s Deputy Governor, Patricia Obila, representing him.
Nwifuru highlighted that the farmers, selected from the 13 LGAs in the state, were chosen to address food insecurity by empowering practical, rural farmers.
The program, part of FADAMA CARES Result Area 2, aims to support both crop and livestock production, focusing on rice and cassava to boost output and enhance livelihoods.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iyioku, praised Nwifuru’s efforts and noted that the distribution would continue through the weekend, covering the three senatorial zones on different days. She urged Nigerians to return to farming to combat food shortages effectively.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Anthony Nwegede, encouraged farmers to leverage the opportunity to make Ebonyi a leading food producer.
Distributed items include rice seeds, cassava cuttings, fertilizer, agrochemicals, broilers, day-old chicks, pig feed, fish juveniles, rice threshers, knapsacks, grinding machines, and water pumps.
