The Borno State Police Command has reiterated its ban on the use of motorcycles and electric bikes across the state.

In a statement released on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, it was confirmed that the decision was made by the Borno State Security Council in response to ongoing security concerns.

“The Command has noted the continued use of motorcycles, particularly electric bikes, and wants to remind the public that the ban remains in effect,” the statement read.

The command urged residents to comply with the ban and warned that anyone found with electric or petrol-powered motorbikes will face arrest.

Additionally, the statement cautioned filling stations against selling petroleum products to customers on motorcycles, stating, “Any filling station found violating this order will be sanctioned and sealed for prosecution.”

It also recommended that delivery and logistics companies use tricycles (Keke Napep) instead of motorcycles for their operations in the state.
