School Building Collapse: Tinubu Extends Sympathies to Plateau Residents

President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the Plateau State Government and its people following the tragic collapse of a school building at Saint Academy in the Busa Buji community of Jos North LGA.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday night, Tinubu expressed profound sadness and sympathy over the incident, describing it as a significant loss to the nation.

The statement reads, “President Bola Tinubu received the news of the tragic collapse of a school building, which resulted in multiple deaths and many survivors in Jos, Plateau State, with profound grief.

“President Tinubu describes the unfortunate incident as a huge loss to the nation and a devastating development – too excruciating to imagine.

“The President condoles with the bereaved families, families of all the victims, and the people and Government of Plateau State.”

Tinubu commended the efforts of emergency responders, including the National Emergency Management Agency, the State Emergency Management Agency, security agencies, and all citizens involved in the search, rescue, and resuscitation operations.

He also assured the residents of his “fervent support at this difficult time.”

The Saint Academy building collapsed while students and teachers were in their classes. Twenty-two people have been confirmed dead, and over 154 suffered varying degrees of injuries.
