The Anambra State Government is set to begin the construction of a new airport in Ndikelionwu, Orumba North Local Government Area, as part of its broader development agenda.

During a recent tour of the proposed site, Engr. Martins Emeka Nwafor, Managing Director of Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport and Chairman of the newly formed Airport and Aerotropolis Committee, highlighted the importance of identifying a suitable location for the project. He emphasized that the airport, coupled with an industrial park, will serve as the foundation for an aerotropolis — an airport-driven urban development designed to unlock economic opportunities.

“This project will be a game changer for the state,” Engr. Nwafor said. “By combining aviation infrastructure with commercial, residential, and logistics facilities, we aim to create a dynamic airport-driven city that attracts investments and boosts industrialization.”
