YPP Declares Governor Soludo Unfit for Re-Election Citing Poor Performance

Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Mr. Uzu Okagbue, has expressed strong confidence that his party will emerge victorious in the upcoming Anambra Governorship Election scheduled for November 8.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at his residence in Umunnachi, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Okagbue criticized the performance of the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, describing him as “increasingly unpopular” and “unelectable.”

“My confidence in victory stems from the fact that we are running against a very weak governor,” Okagbue said. “Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is a weak incumbent, and that makes him easy to defeat. His weakness lies in his failure across all indices of governance. Soludo is the worst governor APGA has produced in its 19 years of leading Anambra State.”

He pointed to several areas where he believes the current administration has fallen short, including deteriorating security, a decline in education standards, poor welfare for state workers, and the use of unqualified labor for critical roles.

“Under Soludo, Anambra’s educational ranking has disgracefully dropped from first in the country to 33rd. How can you talk about educational progress when the governor is hiring cheap labor as teachers?” he asked.

Okagbue also criticized the state of infrastructure, particularly road construction projects. “The governor’s road projects are already failing, even as they are being built. You’re journalists—you’ve seen the roads being maintained even while still under construction. These are signs of a failing administration.”

He called on Anambra voters to reject the incumbent on election day, stating that the state “deserves better.”

“The people of Anambra will vote him out on November 8. The best replacement they can get is the YPP governorship candidate, Paul Chukwuma. I joined his ticket as running mate because of his bold vision and clear ideas. The YPP represents the only credible hope to rescue Anambra from its current state.”
