August 1 Protest: IGP Responds to Detonation of Explosive Device in Lagos
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has praised officers for the successful discovery and detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
The incident occurred on Wednesday along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way in Ikeja, Lagos State.
In a statement signed by Police PRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Egbetokun encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
“If you encounter an unfamiliar or suspicious object, do not touch or move it. Keep a safe distance and immediately notify the police,” the statement advised.
The statement also noted that the Nigeria Police are “working tirelessly to further investigate the source of the IED planted in Lagos, dismantle the plans of those responsible, and apprehend those involved. The cooperation of well-meaning members of the public is crucial during these critical times.”
