The Borno State Government, along with security agency leaders, has announced a temporary easing of the curfew in order to facilitate Muslim worshippers attending Friday (Jumaat) prayers.

This information was shared by the Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Daso Nahun, in a statement issued on Friday in Maiduguri.

The curfew will be lifted from 12 PM to 3 PM, allowing Muslims to participate in Jumaat prayers at nearby mosques. However, the curfew will be reinstated from 3 PM today until 6 AM on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to conduct their activities peacefully and refrain from any violent actions.

Nahun guaranteed the community that measures are in place to safeguard lives and property while striving for lasting peace and security within the state.

This move follows a number of recent events, such as demonstrations, improvised explosive device detonations, and instances of manslaughter.

He stated that both the government and security forces are actively engaged in upholding law and order to protect the public.
