#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: MKO stadium empty in Ogun as security operatives take over
As of 9:45 am on Thursday, there have been no protesters observed at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta, which is the chosen site for the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests in Ogun State’s capital.
It is important to note that an Ogun State High Court issued a ruling on Wednesday that requires those organizing the protests to confine their activities to four specific locations within the state.
Additionally, the court established a time restriction for the protests, allowing them to occur only between 8 am and 5 pm.
The approved sites include MKO Stadium in Abeokuta, Ansar-ud-Deen Comprehensive High School in Ota, Remo Divisional High School in Sagamu, and Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode.
This morning’s trip to the stadium showed a significant security presence, but there were no protesters visible. In addition to a large number of police and security personnel stationed at the stadium, military units were positioned in key areas throughout the state capital to prevent any potential disturbances. Furthermore, our reporter observed that banks in Abeokuta remained closed and traffic on the roads was notably light.
