On Friday, a large crowd of demonstrators assembled outside the Gombe Government House to express their anger regarding escalating hunger and economic difficulties.

The majority of the protesters were young adults, who raised their voices in chants calling for immediate government intervention to tackle the soaring cost of living and shortages of essential food supplies.

According to NIGERIA NEWS 247, there was a notable police presence in the area, as officers worked to keep the situation under control.

The peaceful protesters conveyed their discontent regarding what they termed as the government’s insufficient reaction to the escalating hunger crisis impacting numerous families in the area.

In an interview with NIGERIA NEWS 247, one of the demonstrators, Hauwa Saleh, emphasized that their sole motivation for protesting was hunger.

Expressing herself in Hausa, she stated, Only hunger, only hunger; that’s the only reason we are here. Another protester, who spoke earlier while in tears, highlighted that both hunger and water scarcity were significant issues they were facing.
