#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Protesters invite religious leaders for talks
As the #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria demonstrations continue into their third day, protesters in Abuja convened at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Saturday.
They extended an invitation to leaders from the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria for a candid discussion at the protest site.
Sydney Usman, a member of the Take It Back Movement, addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude to the leaders for their media interventions but urged them to attend on Monday, August 4, 2024, for a dialogue with demonstrators.
He referred to these leaders as father figures and emphasized that they were rallying against poor governance while condemning police violence directed at protesters since the outset of the demonstrations.
They also stated that they would remain at the stadium until the court order restricting them was vacated latest on Monday.
At the moment the protesters are holding a congress to “show the government how it is done.”
