The Nigeria Police Force has clarified that Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun is not involved in civil or land dispute cases.

In a statement released on Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi refuted allegations linking Egbetokun to a land dispute between Bilikisu Aliyu and the Yesufu family. Adejobi emphasized that the IG’s role does not extend to handling civil matters and urged the public not to involve him in such issues.

The statement addressed a recent media report claiming that the IG refused to investigate the land dispute. According to Adejobi, these claims are baseless and misleading, as the police typically intervene only in disputes with clear criminal elements.

The statement read, “The Nigeria Police Force has observed with concern the recent allegations against IG Kayode Egbetokun regarding a land dispute involving Ms. Bilikisu Ishaqu Aliyu and the Yesufu family. We must clarify that these claims are unfounded and have misrepresented the police’s role.”

Adejobi also dismissed reports suggesting tensions between the police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stating that the police maintain a cooperative relationship with the anti-corruption agency.

He urged the public to disregard these media claims and to seek police intervention only in matters involving potential criminal activity. For disputes like the one mentioned, he advised using official channels rather than media platforms.
