NGF Mourns Jos School Building Collapse

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has expressed profound sadness over the tragic collapse of a school building in Jos, Plateau State. The forum extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this devastating incident.

On Friday, a school building in Jos collapsed, resulting in the loss of over 15 lives and leaving several others injured. In response, the Plateau State governor ordered the immediate closure of the school to ensure the safety of students and facilitate a thorough investigation.

NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, praised the swift actions of rescue teams and the state government’s efforts in managing the crisis. He emphasized the critical importance of school safety across Nigeria, urging state governments to promptly address any deficiencies.

“The Nigeria Governors’ Forum stands in solidarity with the people of Plateau State and the affected families during this difficult time. We commend the rapid response of rescue teams and the efforts of the state government in handling this crisis,” Gov AbdulRazaq stated.

He reiterated the forum’s commitment to supporting Plateau State in providing necessary assistance to affected families and preventing future tragedies in schools.

“Safety in our schools is paramount, and we must take immediate steps to address any shortcomings. The NGF is ready to collaborate with Plateau State to mitigate the impact of this tragedy and prevent its recurrence,” Gov AbdulRazaq concluded.
