BREAKING: Legendary singer, Onyeka Onwenu, dies at 72

Renowned Nigerian singer and actress Onyeka Onwenu has allegedly passed away at the age of 72. Reports indicate that she died on Tuesday evening at Reddington Hospital in Lagos after collapsing during Mrs. Stella Okoli’s birthday celebration.

According to TheNiche, an attendee of the party verified this tragic news. It’s a heartbreaking situation, especially since Onyeka Onwenu had just performed at Mrs. Okoli’s birthday earlier that day (Tuesday, July 30, 2024) before her collapse.

According to an eyewitness, she was transported to Reddington Hospital but unfortunately did not survive. As of the time of this report, her family has not confirmed her passing.

Onwenu will be honored for her musical works, including albums like In The Morning Light and Dancing In The Sun. Additionally, she appeared in films such as Half of a Yellow Sun and Lions Heart, among others.
