Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has criticised the possibility of Peter Obi running again as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2027 general elections, calling it a move that would portray Obi as “desperate and unserious.”

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Monday night, Keyamo weighed in on recent speculations surrounding a potential alliance between Obi and Atiku under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform.

Peter Obi, who served as Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ran independently as the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, finishing third behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar.

Addressing the rumours of a renewed partnership between the two politicians, Keyamo said:

“It is doom for them. There is no way forward for them in that coalition.
You will now have that Obi picture of a vice-presidential candidate in 2019, presidential candidate in 2023, and vice-presidential candidate in 2027.
It gives a picture of a desperate, unserious individual.”

While neither Obi nor Atiku has confirmed any plans to run together in 2027, talks of a possible alliance have stirred debates among political observers ahead of the next electoral cycle.
