Allegation of Manipulation in Ondo APC Governorship Primaries Raised by Group
The Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance, a faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s decision not to conduct delegates’ congresses ahead of the upcoming governorship primaries.
The group alleges that the committee tasked with validating party membership in the state is setting the stage for manipulation of the primaries. They claim that committee members were conspicuously absent from congress venues, suggesting that figures were fabricated to create the appearance of a conducted delegates’ congress.
Tade Ogidan, Chairman of the Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance, stressed the urgency of intervention from President Bola Tinubu and the APC national leadership to prevent a potential crisis within the party in the state.
Ogidan stated, “The committee members across the state employed two different sets of result sheets, one by the local government Congress Committee and another by the state Congress Committee. The flawed execution of this critical exercise further evidenced itself in the failure to appoint or utilize designated ward election officers, among other irregularities.”
In response to the allegations, Kayode Fasua, Director of Information for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS), stated, “The party has clearly outlined the process for conducting the primary election in the state. Any concerns should be addressed directly to the party. We, on our part, are fully prepared for the primary election.”
