PDP Gears Up for 2025 National Convention in Ibadan
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified preparations for its 2025 National Elective Convention, scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, the party described the upcoming convention tagged #Ibadan2025 as a historic milestone in its drive toward internal renewal and readiness for the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, the event will attract over 3,000 delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as party leaders, stakeholders, and international observers, including members of the diplomatic community.
The convention will feature the election of key national officers, including a new National Chairman, and is expected to reaffirm the PDP’s commitment to unity, discipline, and democratic values.
Hosting the event, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has led a series of venue inspections and logistical reviews to ensure smooth execution. The Lekan Salami Stadium, the statement added, is being transformed into a “hub for democratic renewal” ahead of the convention.
Final preparations including seating arrangements, stage setup, lighting, and audio-visual installations are ongoing under the supervision of Oyo State Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal, who chairs the Venue Sub-Committee of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC).
“Final preparations are in full swing as the stage is being set at the Lekan Salami Stadium for PDP’s landmark #Ibadan2025 Convention,” the party said. “With just two days to go, work is ramping up for what promises to be a transformative gathering.”
