Anambra 2025: Non-Indigenes Back Soludo’s Re-Election Bid, Laud Inclusive Governance
Ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, a prominent All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) support group, Anambra Patriots for Soludo (APS), has called on non-indigenous residents in the state to vote for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, citing his inclusive governance and developmental strides.
The endorsement came during a rally organised on Tuesday at the International Convention Centre in Awka, where various ethnic communities under the umbrella of the Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State pledged their support for Soludo’s second-term bid.
The association comprises residents from Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Edo, Igala, Akwa Ibom/Cross River, and other ethnic backgrounds across Nigeria.
Support Rooted in Performance
In his address, APS National Convener, Okey Ezeibe, said the group’s support was based on the governor’s impressive record over the past three and a half years.
“Our decision to support Governor Soludo is based on his visible, evidence-based achievements and the socio-economic transformation across the state. His leadership has been nothing short of visionary,” Ezeibe stated.
He also praised the non-indigenes for their show of solidarity and urged them to maintain the momentum by turning out in large numbers to vote.
Also speaking at the event, Alhaji Gidado Siddikki, Deputy National Director of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and Siriki Fulani of Awka, commended the governor’s commitment to inclusivity and development.
“Governor Soludo’s tireless efforts in addressing infrastructure and welfare challenges have benefited both indigenes and non-indigenes alike. He deserves the opportunity to continue the work he has started,” Siddikki said.
Soludo: “Anambra Belongs to All Who Live Here”
Responding to the show of support, Governor Chukwuma Soludo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to unity, inclusion, and shared responsibility.
“If you live in Anambra, you are from Anambra. We don’t discriminate here,” the governor declared, adding that his administration’s recruitment of over 8,000 teachers from 18 states within its first nine months in office reflected its inclusive approach.
Soludo highlighted key policies aimed at improving lives across the state, including:
-
Free education in public primary and secondary schools
-
Free antenatal and delivery services for all pregnant women
-
Merit-based recruitment and appointments regardless of origin
He stressed that the state’s progress depends on collective effort:
“The line in our national anthem — ‘In brotherhood we stand’ — must be more than just words. We must live it.”
The governor also praised residents who have contributed to his re-election campaign, saying this was the first time in the state’s history that citizens themselves were taking ownership of the campaign.
“We are still in the early stages of transforming Anambra. The journey has just begun, and it’s a shared responsibility,” he said, calling for greater collaboration among communities and stakeholders.
Looking Ahead
Governor Soludo encouraged all residents—indigenes and non-indigenes alike—to fully participate in the democratic process by ensuring they are registered and ready to vote on November 8.
“Wherever you live should be your home. It is your right and duty to vote and contribute to shaping the future of your community,” he concluded.
The rally was attended by APGA supporters, traditional rulers, youth groups, and senior government officials from across Anambra State.
