APGA Urges Governor Alex Otti to Return to Party, Calls It His ‘True Political Home’
The National Vice Chairman (South East) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Augustine Ehiemere, has called on Abia State Governor Alex Otti to return to APGA, describing the party as his rightful political home and the most stable platform for sustainable governance in Nigeria.
Ehiemere made the appeal during an APGA stakeholders’ meeting for the Abia South Senatorial District held last week in the state.
He cautioned Governor Otti against aligning with other political parties, which he claimed are currently beset by internal instability. “APGA remains the healthiest and most stable political party in Nigeria today,” Ehiemere said.
“We are calling on Governor Alex Otti to return to his political home, APGA, where he began his journey. The Labour Party is presently a breeding ground for crisis, ADC is nearly in disarray, APC is not a safe platform, and PDP has significantly declined. Only APGA offers the kind of stability and ideological consistency he needs to continue his commendable work.”
Ehiemere also praised Governor Otti’s achievements in office so far, particularly in the areas of security, welfare, and prompt payment of salaries and pensions. He applauded the collaboration between Governor Otti and his Enugu State counterpart, Peter Mbah, as well as the establishment of the Abia State Security Trust Fund.
However, he urged the governor to prioritize the payment of outstanding gratuities owed to retired workers.
Addressing party faithful, Ehiemere encouraged APGA members in Abia South and across the state to remain steadfast and committed to the party’s principles.
It is worth noting that Governor Alex Otti was APGA’s governorship candidate in Abia State in the 2015 and 2019 elections, before eventually winning the 2023 election under the Labour Party.
