The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) Criticizes President Tinubu’s Creation of Ministry of Livestock Development

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent announcement of a new Ministry of Livestock Development has drawn sharp criticism from the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP). In a statement issued by its national Secretary, Chief Peter Ameh, CUPP described the move as a political maneuver and financial misstep.

Ameh highlighted concerns over the perceived duplication of efforts, asserting that the establishment of a new ministry duplicates the functions already managed by the Ministry of Agriculture. He urged the President to instead focus on strengthening the existing agricultural department and ensuring effective supervision.

“The creation of the Ministry of Livestock raises questions about its alignment with Nigeria’s agricultural development goals,” Ameh remarked. “We must scrutinize whether this new ministry will effectively address the specific challenges of the livestock sector or merely add administrative redundancy.”

He emphasized the need for transparency in decision-making and accountability in resource allocation concerning the new ministry. Ameh stressed that the government should prioritize efficiency and effectiveness in utilizing public resources to benefit livestock farmers and foster overall agricultural growth.

Ameh expressed concerns about potential inefficiencies and confusion arising from dual ministries and underscored the importance of government responsiveness to citizen needs. He called for a clear demonstration of commitment to good governance and public trust through transparent and accountable governance practices.

Ultimately, CUPP’s critique reflects broader concerns within Nigeria about governmental priorities and effective resource management in addressing critical national issues.
