Ighodalo Still Eligible for Edo Election – Campaign Director
Rev. Olu Martins, Deputy Director-General of the Asue Ogie Campaign Management, has dismissed as false the circulating news that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the September 21, 2024, election in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, has been disqualified.
Martins described the alleged disqualification by the Court of Appeal as “a concocted story, fake, imaginary, diabolical, and satanic creation of the opposition’s warped minds.”
In a statement issued in Benin, Martins said, “Contrary to the fake news spread by merchants of lies and propaganda, no Appeal Court ruling has disqualified Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate in the upcoming Edo State governorship election.”
He accused the opposition of spreading false information to divert attention from their lack of preparedness and total rejection by the people of Edo State. “This is criminal forgery, and that is putting it mildly. They are liars and propagandists with nothing to offer the people of Edo State,” Martins added.
Martins emphasized that Ighodalo remains the legitimate PDP candidate, enjoying widespread support across all three senatorial zones, and is fully prepared to lead Edo State toward prosperity.
Social media had been flooded with claims that the Court of Appeal had ruled on interlocutory summons among other issues raised by the reinstated Edo State governor, Philip Shaibu, and others.
