Kwankwaso, supporters may join APC soon – Bashir Ahmad
Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad has hinted at a possible defection of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahmad made the remark in a post on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday night, following a comment by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who referred to Kwankwaso as “NNPP–APC” during a public event.
“If nothing else, Vice President Shettima referring to Senator Kwankwaso as ‘NNPP–APC’ is a strong signal that the NNPP leader and his teeming supporters are on the verge of joining our great party, the APC,” Ahmad wrote.
He added that such a move would bring about the long-sought political unity in Kano State, saying, “This will help to have a politically united Kano, something long desired for the progress and stability of our state.”
Although there has been no official statement from Kwankwaso or the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), the comment has sparked speculation about a potential political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
