Okocha reveals 2027 plans against Governor Fubara

Tony Okocha, the former Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized Governor Sim Fubara, stating that he is creating issues for himself. Okocha believes that Fubara is at risk of being de-marketed ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Okocha’s comments come amidst an ongoing conflict between former Governor Nyesom Wike and Fubara, which has persisted despite attempts at mediation from President Bola Tinubu and other political figures. While Okocha expressed a willingness to pursue a peaceful resolution if Fubara adheres to the rule of law, he remains firm in his stance.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Okocha said, “Wike played a crucial role in Fubara’s emergence as governor, as Fubara was never a politician. He is now creating problems for himself. Our goal is to de-market him and his party to ensure victory in 2027.”

He further added, “For the next decade, I don’t foresee any politician undermining the political structure Wike has established in Rivers State. While I can’t predict the future, it’s clear that Wike’s structure is resilient and not easily dismantled—at least not in the near term.”
