PDP Convention Marks Notable Absence of Two Governors
At least two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, previously accused of cozying up to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), are notably absent from the party’s ongoing convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The absent governors are Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State.
Present at the convention, however, are governors Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, and host Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Reports suggest that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara might also skip the event due to his association with the faction led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.
Despite conflicting court orders attempting to halt the convention, DAILY POST reports that the exercise is already underway. The Wike-led faction had opposed the convention, while the faction under Umar Damagum pledged to carry it out as scheduled.
Both Osun and Taraba governors have faced prior allegations of seeking to defect to the APC, allegations they have consistently denied.
