Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) NEC Meeting Unveils Resolutions
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently convened its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, where significant resolutions were reached. Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary, disclosed 15 key resolutions made during the meeting, addressing critical issues facing the nation and the party.
1. The NEC commended the resilience, steadfastness, and commitment of all party organs in ensuring the unity, stability, and sustenance of the PDP amidst challenging times.
2. Special recognition was given to PDP members, particularly youths and women, for their courage in resisting divisive tactics employed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) aimed at weakening the opposition.
3. Concern was expressed over the poorly executed policies of the APC-led administration, resulting in heightened insecurity, economic hardship, rising unemployment, and increased cost of living, leading to widespread suffering and despair.
4. The NEC condemned acts of terrorism, violence, and mass abductions, as well as the failure of the APC government to address these challenges, displaying indifference, incompetence, and arrogance.
5. The creeping totalitarianism and moves towards a one-party state were denounced as detrimental to national peace, stability, and democracy.
6. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was urged to convene a special National Security Council meeting to address the escalating insecurity plaguing the nation.
7. Immediate restructuring of the economic team was demanded to include individuals of proven integrity and competence, devoid of bias or vested interests, to aid in revitalizing the economy.
8. A review of all policies stifling the economy, such as fuel price hikes, increased taxation, and adverse fiscal policies, was called for to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
9. Unity and collaboration among all party organs, leaders, stakeholders, and members were emphasized as crucial for the PDP’s resurgence and return to power at the national level.
10. The timetable for party congresses nationwide was received and approved by the NEC.
11. The reconstitution of the Party Disciplinary and Reconciliation Committees was sanctioned to ensure party stability.
12. The extension of the Party Constitution Amendment Committee’s tenure was endorsed to allow for further deliberations and inclusion of new proposals.
13. The efforts of the National Working Committee in rebranding the party, including the introduction of a new PDP logo, were commended and widely accepted.
14. All party members were urged to remain committed to the success of the PDP for the betterment of Nigerians and the preservation of democracy.
