Those Against PDP Convention Are Pushing for a One-Party State – Olafeso
Eddy Olafeso, a senior figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused opponents of the party’s national convention of attempting to create a one-party state in Nigeria.
Olafeso, a former National Vice Chairman of the PDP, made the claim on Tuesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television program, as reported by NIGERIA NEWS 247.
His comments came in response to a Federal High Court order that barred the PDP from holding its national convention, originally scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan. Olafeso described the ruling as the “climax of judicial rascality.”
“The restraining order from the Federal High Court today against our scheduled convention did not come as a shock to us,” he said. “A group is focused on ensuring that they destroy the party completely, but we will not allow it. Good will prevail over evil.”
Olafeso added that the PDP would not be discouraged by the court’s decision and expressed confidence that the convention would still take place.
He further alleged that those working against the PDP have ulterior motives aimed at weakening the opposition in the country.
