Why Wike cannot join APC – Dele Momodu
Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation International Magazine, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is unlikely to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because doing so would diminish his political clout.
Speaking during an appearance on Arise TV on Wednesday night, Momodu suggested that Wike’s ongoing frustrations stem from his failure to secure both the presidential and vice-presidential tickets of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 elections.
“Wike has become inconsolable after losing both bids,” Momodu said. “He carries deep resentment and struggles to let go of his anger. I’ve said this many times—he simply cannot forgive.”
Momodu challenged the former Rivers State governor to officially join the APC if he believes he can maintain his current influence.
“If Wike truly has the courage, he should join the APC. Even President Tinubu has publicly welcomed him into the party,” Momodu said. “But he won’t. Because for Wike, it’s better to reign in hell than serve in heaven. He’s a don in the PDP.”
Wike, who has maintained a controversial and high-profile role within the PDP while also aligning with the APC-led federal government, continues to draw criticism for his political maneuvering.
