The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has asked the Libyan Football Federation (LFF) to submit documents related to the cancellation of the 2025 AFCON qualifying match against Nigeria.

The Super Eagles withdrew from the match, scheduled for October 15, after their flight was diverted to Labraq Airport, where players were held for 18 hours without food, water, or internet access.

Nasser Al-Suwaie, the Secretary-General of the LFF, confirmed that CAF has set a deadline of October 20 for both the Libyan and Nigerian football associations to provide the required documentation. He mentioned that the LFF has hired a lawyer to gather evidence and suggested there may be collusion from certain individuals within CAF, while asserting that the LFF’s stance is strong.

Al-Suwaie reiterated that the Libyan Federation was not responsible for the decision to reroute the flight to Al-Abraq Airport, attributing it to the Libyan state and emphasizing the importance of respecting Libya’s sovereignty.
