Argentina’s manager, Lionel Scaloni, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the pitch conditions during their opening match of the 2024 Copa America against Canada on Thursday.

The match took place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, US, where Argentina secured a 2-0 victory against their North American opponents. Goals were scored by Julian Alvarez in the 49th minute and Lautaro Martinez in the 88th minute.

Scaloni criticized the pitch, noting that despite knowing about the venue for seven months, the grass had been changed just two days before the match. He conveyed his frustration, stating through Gaston Edul, “We didn’t play on a decent court. It was similar to Arabia, but unlike there, we played on a suitable field. This situation cannot continue.”
