Arsenal have reportedly decided to part ways with Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, bringing his time at the club to an early end.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners and Tomiyasu have reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract, with an official announcement expected shortly.

The 25-year-old has not featured for Arsenal since October 2024, making just a six-minute substitute appearance against Southampton. He later underwent knee surgery in February 2025 and is not expected to return to full fitness until the end of the year.

Although Tomiyasu’s current contract was set to run until the summer of 2026, ongoing injury concerns and limited game time appear to have prompted both parties to agree on an early exit.

Tomiyasu joined Arsenal from Italian side Bologna in August 2021 for a fee just shy of £20 million. While he showed promise during his early days in North London, persistent injury issues plagued his three-and-a-half-year spell at the club.

His departure marks a disappointing end to a tenure that began with high expectations but was ultimately hindered by fitness setbacks.
