Aston Villa, under Unai Emery’s guidance, dealt a significant blow to Arsenal’s Premier League title aspirations with a well-deserved 2-0 triumph at the Emirates Stadium, courtesy of two late goals.

Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins found the back of the net within three minutes of each other, stunning the home fans and securing a crucial victory for the visitors.

The defeat for Arsenal, their fifth of the campaign, leaves Mikel Arteta’s side trailing reigning champions Manchester City by two points in the title race. Emery, returning to face his former club, celebrated Bailey’s breakthrough goal as Villa’s dominance in the second half eventually paid off.

Despite Arsenal’s early attempts, including a close-range effort from Leandro Trossard denied by former Gunner Emiliano Martinez, it was Villa who looked more threatening after the break. With just four shots in the second half, Arsenal struggled to break down Villa’s resilient defense.

As Emery made strategic substitutions, Villa continued to press forward, with Bailey capitalizing on a defensive lapse to score the opener. Watkins then sealed the victory with a clinical finish, exposing Arsenal’s high defensive line.

While the result has significant implications for the Premier League title race, it also boosts Villa’s chances of securing Champions League qualification, moving them three points clear of Tottenham in fourth place.
