Euro 2024: Alan Shearer Picks England’s Player of the Tournament

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has named winger Bukayo Saka as England’s standout player of Euro 2024.

Speaking ahead of England’s final against Spain on Sunday, Shearer praised the Arsenal star, emphasizing his universal appeal and describing him as a refreshing presence.

Saka has featured in all six of England’s matches leading up to the final, notably scoring a memorable late equaliser in the Three Lions’ quarter-final win over Switzerland.

“When you look at who has stood out for England, there are a few names you could mention,” Shearer told Betfair.

“Saka has been absolutely fantastic, as has Kobbie Mainoo. Saka, in particular, has an aura about him, nothing seems to faze him.

“For me, though, Bukayo Saka is my player of the tournament. He’s had a magnificent run, he brings a breath of fresh air, and he’s adored by everyone. Let’s hope he creates more magic on Sunday.”
