Fans Confident Iheanacho Will Excel in La Liga
Nigerian football fans are optimistic about Kelechi Iheanacho’s potential success in La Liga with Sevilla, whom he joined on Wednesday, NIGERIA NEWS 247 reports.
The club officially announced Iheanacho’s signing on Wednesday night after he passed a medical exam the previous day. The 27-year-old, whose contract with Leicester City ended last season, signed a two-year deal with the Andalusian club.
In the previous season, Iheanacho, who mostly played a peripheral role for Leicester City in their English Premier League campaign, scored six goals and provided three assists in 26 appearances. He will now be sporting Sevilla’s white jersey for the 2024/25 season.
Reacting to Iheanacho’s move to Spain, fans expressed confidence in his ability to make an impact in the Spanish league.
Mr. Xperience commented on X, “Watch him score more goals than Ferran Torres, Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal. The second-best attacker just arrived in La Liga after Kylian Mbappe.”
Another user, Ayodeji, remarked, “Senior man will light up your farmer’s league.”
Stretch added, “Senior man Kelechi is about to light up La Liga.”
MalamBuba humorously pleaded, “Senior Man, please don’t score against my team, Real Madrid.”
Ethan tweeted, “We all know the quality Iheanacho possesses, and it really baffles me that he struggled in the Premier League. La Liga is all about technique, and I do not doubt that he will excel there. Congratulations, Senior Man Kel.”
Temitope Usman said, “Whoever made this move happen has done Kelechi a lot of good. I believe he’s now in a league where he can fully showcase his skills. I’m confident he will perform well in Spain.”
Iheanacho will be joining fellow Nigerian Chidera Ejuke at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium as Sevilla aims to bounce back from a disappointing 2023/24 season where they finished 14th in the standings.
