D’Tigress’ point guard Ezinne Kalu expressed confidence in the team’s prospects at the 2024 Olympic Games after their impressive win over Australia on Monday.

The African champions secured a 75-62 victory against the world’s third-ranked team in their opening game in Lille, with Kalu leading the charge. She contributed 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals to the win.

The 32-year-old guard celebrated the team’s remarkable performance and issued a strong statement to future opponents, emphasizing their defensive prowess.

“Our defense was relentless. No one defends like us,” Kalu said to FIBA.com. “When we are on the court, we smell blood. That’s what keeps us going. Australia brought in their veterans and an experienced coach in the second half, but we kept pushing and maintained our momentum.”

D’Tigress are set to play against host France in their next game on Thursday.
