UCL: Kylian Mbappe Matches Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Champions League Record in PSG Victory
Paris Saint-Germain’s star forward, Kylian Mbappe, achieved a milestone on Tuesday by equaling the UEFA Champions League goalscoring record set by the club’s former striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Mbappe’s feat came as he netted a brace for PSG in the second leg of their quarter-final bout against Barcelona. His contributions included a penalty goal in the 61st minute and a second goal, capitalized from an error by Jules Kounde, in the 89th minute, securing PSG’s 6-4 aggregate victory.
With this performance, the 25-year-old now boasts 48 goals in 71 Champions League appearances, a tally that matches Ibrahimovic’s record of 48 goals in 124 games.
Mbappe’s next opportunity to surpass Ibrahimovic’s record awaits in the upcoming semi-final clash against Borussia Dortmund.
