Independent Diplomat has secured a new cooperation agreement to push for an investigation into the civilian killings in Mali.

The agreement, made on behalf of the human rights organization Association Kalakal, is part of a broader strategy to implement international sanctions against Mali’s military government and its separatist allies.

Independent Diplomat, a consulting agency known for its diplomatic and intelligence expertise, is leading this initiative to increase global scrutiny of the Malian government.

Central to this strategy is the agency’s collaboration with the pro-Azawad separatist movement CSP-PDA, aimed at highlighting alleged crimes committed by the Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) and Russian instructors against ethnic groups in northern Mali.

The connection between Independent Diplomat and the separatists gained attention in February 2024 when CSP-PDA supporters circulated a video featuring armed militants, including Carne Ross, the agency’s founder and former chief executive.

Ross, with his background in the UK Foreign Office and the UN, has faced scrutiny regarding his possible ties to militant activities.
