The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) Alleges Plot to Derail Tinubu’s Re-election Bid

The AYCF has raised concerns, alleging that certain northern political elites are orchestrating schemes to impede President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027. According to the forum, the ongoing disruptions and agitations in the North are part of this strategy to undermine Tinubu’s potential candidacy.

Yerima Shettima, the President General of AYCF, claims that this plot involves setting unrealistic standards for the Tinubu administration, aiming to discredit it and sway public opinion. He specifically points out Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, as a primary target of these efforts.

AYCF asserts that the attacks on Tinubu’s allies are part of a broader scheme to destabilize the government and hinder his chances of securing a second term in office. They view these actions as desperate attempts by power seekers to hinder the administration’s progress and reverse its anti-corruption efforts.

Expressing concern over the early nature of these efforts, AYCF warns against the spread of false narratives and the use of obscure groups to undermine Tinubu’s allies and tarnish his reputation. They urge President Tinubu and his team to remain vigilant, resolute, and focused on delivering promises to the Nigerian people despite these challenges.

AYCF deems it absurd for any group to judge an administration barely a year old against unrealistic expectations and unfair standards. They emphasize the importance of the government staying focused on its goals, remaining resilient, and countering moves aimed at sabotaging Nigeria’s progress and development.
