The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended 16 notorious cultists and issued warrants for the arrest of 21 others, as announced by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in Awka on Saturday. This achievement follows the intensified efforts to curb the resurgence of cult-related violence in Awka, the state capital.

Ikenga revealed that the Police Command successfully tracked down and apprehended 16 notorious cultists responsible for numerous violent incidents in Anambra. Additionally, 21 other cultists, currently evading arrest, have been declared wanted by the State Police Command.

The arrested cultists, detained on the orders of Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, were nabbed during intelligence-led operations. CP Adeoye has directed the Special Anti-Cult Squad (SPACS) to intensify its efforts to capture the remaining identified cultists who are still at large.
