A three-storey building has collapsed in the Ifite area of Awka, the capital of Anambra State.

Building collapses have been frequent in Anambra recently. The most recent incident involved a two-storey building in Amawbia market, which trapped many vegetable sellers, resulting in four fatalities.

Other collapses include a five-floor centenary building at Dennis Memorial Grammar School and a block of stalls in Ochanja Market.

In response to these incidents, Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, had previously established a panel to investigate the collapses before this latest incident.
