Enugu Police Arrest Suspect in Possession of Fake Naira Notes
The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of Mmaduabuchi Okonkwo, 24, for suspected possession and circulation of counterfeit Naira notes. According to the Command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, Okonkwo was apprehended on April 10 by operatives from the Abakaliki Road Police Division, assisted by vigilant citizens.
During the arrest, authorities seized a total of N40,000 in suspected counterfeit one thousand Naira notes from the suspect. Investigations revealed that Okonkwo had boarded a minibus from New Haven Junction to Old IMT Bus Stop, Enugu, where he attempted to use one of the counterfeit notes to pay the driver.
