Plateau #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Coalition Halts Protests for Two Days
The Jos #EndBadGovernance Protest 2024 Coalition in Plateau State has announced a two-day suspension of its street protests to facilitate dialogue with relevant stakeholders.
Spokesperson Mr. Enoch Vilret made the announcement on Sunday in Jos, stating that the suspension would be in effect from August 4 to August 6. This pause aims to enable constructive discussions, as encouraged by President Bola Tinubu’s recent national broadcast.
Vilret emphasized that the coalition remains dedicated to its objectives and hopes this period of suspension will lead to meaningful dialogue.
He clarified that while they are not the original organizers of the protest, the coalition leaders in Plateau State are committed to ensuring that the demonstrations are peaceful and orderly.
Vilret strongly disassociated the coalition from any protesters carrying non-Nigerian flags and urged security forces to act against such activities, which he said undermine the movement’s integrity.
He also condemned any plans for looting or vandalism, asserting that the coalition remains committed to non-violent advocacy. Vilret urged Nigerians to continue to be law-abiding and to maintain hope for positive change in the country.
