Police Arrest Suspected Cattle Rustlers, Motorcycle Thieves, and Others in Jigawa
The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested suspected cattle rustlers, motorcycle thieves, and drug dealers in a series of separate operations across the state.
During the operations, police recovered a vehicle, motorcycles, livestock, and illicit drugs.
State Police Spokesman, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, said the arrests are part of efforts by the Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, to strengthen the state’s security network.
He explained that on January 15, 2026, a patrol team in Hadejia intercepted a dark green Golf 3 along Hadejia/Kano Road. The vehicle, driven by Adamu Sani Ya’u with Musa Abdullahi as passenger, was suspected of transporting stolen livestock.
“Officers reportedly found animal droppings, hair, rope, suspected Indian hemp, a Rizler, a blanket, and an extra number plate inside the vehicle. The suspects are being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Dutse,” SP Adam said.
In Taura Local Government Area, police recovered a motorcycle stolen from a resident after criminals had blocked a road and carried out the robbery, crediting intelligence-led operations for the recovery.
Detectives in Birnin Kudu also arrested three suspected motorcycle thieves and recovered a Bajaj motorcycle. Additionally, another unregistered motorcycle was recovered in Hadejia after a suspect fled upon seeing police.
