Three Anambra Markets Recognized for Outstanding Revenue Generation

Three major markets in Onitsha, Anambra State’s commercial hub, have been recognized for their exceptional revenue generation efforts. The awards were presented by the Editorial Board of FREENEWS Magazine, based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Onitsha Main Market received the “Anambra State First Revenue Generating Market, 2023” award. Ochanja Central Market was honored with the “Anambra State Fastest Growing Revenue Generating Market, 2023” award, and the Onitsha Bridgehead Drug Dealers Market (Ogbogwu) won the “Anambra State Favourable Revenue Generating Market” award.

In the individual category, Chief Chukwuleta Ndubuisi, Chairman of the Onitsha Drug (Ogbogwu) Market Caretaker Committee, and his counterparts from the Main Market and Ochanja Central Market, Chief Innocent Ezeoha (Ezennia of Umuchu) and Chief Bonaventure Mmuo, respectively, were awarded the “Ambassadors of Entrepreneurship and Good Market Administration” titles.

During the award ceremony in Onitsha on Tuesday, Obinna Mbonu, Chairman of the Editorial Board of FREENEWS Magazine, explained that thorough research revealed these markets and their leaders aligned with Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous state through effective revenue generation.

In their responses, market leaders Chukwuleta, Ezeoha, and Mmuo, alongside their executive committee members, praised FREENEWS Magazine for its investigative journalism and encouraged other publishers to follow suit. They lauded Soludo’s administration, stating it is the best in the state’s history.

The leaders revealed that their markets’ annual revenue generation increased from around N20 million to about N90 million per annum, contributing to Soludo’s significant achievements in human capital and infrastructure development. They expressed their support for Soludo’s potential second term in 2025, emphasizing its importance for the state’s continued progress.
