In response to the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, security personnel have been deployed across key locations in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.

Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia announced on Sunday that he had received assurances from various groups—including youth organizations, market vendors, traders, labor unions, and other civil society entities—that they would refrain from joining the hunger strike.

Our reporter noted a significant police presence throughout the state capital, especially in the Wurukum area known for criminal activity. Many shops, gas stations, and banks in that vicinity remained closed due to concerns about potential disturbances.

At the motor parks, there were few travelers, and the usual hustle and bustle was missing from the highway, especially along the Makurdi-Lafia route.

In contrast, regular business operations continued in other areas of the state capital, with offices in the city remaining open.

Additionally, our reporter found that both Gboko and Otukpo towns were experiencing a peaceful atmosphere, with daily activities proceeding smoothly and without any disturbances.
