The Plateau State Police Command has dismissed a viral video showing the alleged looting of a rice mill in the Zaria region as untrue.

According to the police, this footage, spread by individuals with malicious intent, is designed to incite unnecessary fear and disorder within the community.

They emphasized that no looting has occurred in the state since the protests began and urged the public to be cautious of misinformation.

This information was shared in a statement on Friday by spokesperson Alabo Alfred. The command noted that it has come to their attention that some individuals are sharing misleading content online, falsely claiming that protesters are vandalizing a rice mill on Zaria road. They firmly assert that this claim is baseless and intended to stir panic and unrest in Plateau State.

The statement reinforces that there have been no reports of looting or vandalism on Zaria road or anywhere else in the state.

It cautions individuals against spreading misleading and provocative information, warning that those who do so will face legal consequences if apprehended.

Additionally, State Commissioner of Police Olugbemiga Adesina has assured residents that efforts are being made to uphold law and order while prioritizing the safety and security of all citizens.
