EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Protesters desert Abuja national stadium, assemble at Berger
Protesters from the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement in Abuja have left the Moshood Abiola Stadium and convened at the well-known Berger Roundabout.
A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory had instructed on Wednesday that their demonstrations should be confined to the stadium.
Following this directive, the protesters assembled at the stadium on Thursday; however, they pushed back against security forces’ attempts to confine their protest within the stadium’s premises.
Following the events, the demonstrators exited the stadium and proceeded in large groups after hearing that fellow protesters at Eagles Square were being mistreated by security personnel.
Upon reaching their destination, the police stationed there relentlessly deployed tear gas against them. A reporter who arrived at the stadium at 7 AM on Friday did not observe any protesters but later discovered that they had relocated. At the time of this report, the protesters were gathering at Berger Roundabout.
