Former Senate Chief Whip Ali Ndume has urged President Bola Tinubu to heed the concerns of Nigerian youths ahead of a planned nationwide protest. Ndume warned that the protest could escalate, particularly as there is no clear leadership.

On Channels Television, Ndume expressed concerns about the potential for chaos, drawing parallels to the EndSARS protests. He supported the NLC president’s call for Tinubu to engage with the youth, stressing the need for presidential dialogue.

This call for dialogue follows activist Omoyele Sowore’s call for a nationwide protest in August to address the country’s economic hardships. Ndume had previously accused Tinubu of distancing himself from Ministers and lawmakers amidst the current economic difficulties.

The EndSARS protests in October 2020, initially aimed at disbanding the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), intensified following a violent incident involving soldiers at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos.
