APGA’s Mimi Azikiwe beats ADC’s Justina Azuka for Onitsha North constituency 1 Bye-Election
Mimi Azikiwe, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has emerged victorious in the just concluded Onitsha North Constituency 1 bye-election.
According to The Whistler, Azikiwe secured a decisive win with 7,774 votes, defeating her closest rival, Justina Azuka of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Azuka is the widow of the late Labour Party lawmaker, Justice Azuka, who was abducted and killed by armed assailants in 2024.
The legislative seat became vacant following the tragic death of Justice Azuka, who previously represented the constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The election’s Returning Officer, Professor Ebien, officially declared Azikiwe the winner.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) trailed behind, finishing third with a total of 1,371 votes.
